The OLED display on the steering wheel shows the following message: "CAUTION! Please update the firmware"
In order to cross out an issue on the hardware side, we recommend performing the following:
Inspect the pins at the back of the steering wheel and check for any broken or missing ones.
You may notice that one of the 13 pins is shorter than the rest.
However, this is normal and by design:
If you observe any damage, please submit a ticket to the technical support team.
If the pins are fine, please proceed with the next steps.
Detach the QR Base-Side of the wheel base and then reassemble it.
Once the QR Base-Side is reattached, please make sure to securely tighten the clamp:
We recommend using a torque wrench to tighten the screw to the factory-applied 15 NM (newton meters).
In case you don't have a torque wrench, please check the image below illustrating how the clamp should look after being properly tightened:
By following this link, you will find a video illustrating how to perform the process.
Inspect the screws located in and around the connection pins of the steering wheel, and make sure all of the screws are hand-tightened.
To do so, you will need two Allen keys: a 3 mm and a 2 mm for the center screw.
The image below shows the screws in question, along with the recommended maximum torque to be applied to each.
On the software side, we recommend the following:
Check for any pending Windows updates.
These should also be performed if available.
Make sure to have your wheel base connected to a Windows PC via a USB connection cable.
Do not use a USB hub or a USB extension cable in order to prevent any issues.
We always recommend plugging the wheel base directly into one of the USB ports located on your PC's motherboard.
Make sure to have any antivirus program(s) disabled.
You can download and install the latest Fanatec app version from this link.
Open the "Firmware Update Manager" by clicking on the update tab in the app and perform all of the available firmware updates.
After completing all suggested steps, please reopen the app and confirm that your device(s) are functioning correctly.
We also recommend double-checking that it functions correctly within the game.
If the issue persists, we recommend that you submit a ticket to our technical support team for further assistance.
Note: This troubleshooting article applies to the CSL DD QR1, GT DD QR1 and all steering wheels with OLED displays.
