No more force feedback after swapping the steering wheel while playing
This is a known behavior that can occur in many racing games.
Racing games use a controller profile to assign connected devices (such as your steering wheel) to specific in-game functions like the accelerator, brake, pit limiter, wipers, and other controls.
If you swap the steering wheel while the game is running, the game may lose connection to the device and fail to restore it properly.
As a result, the controller profile cannot be reloaded automatically.
This can lead to the following issues:
- Force feedback (FFB) stops working
- Steering wheel buttons no longer respond
To avoid this issue, please follow these recommendations:
Only swap the steering wheel when the game is closed
OR
- Restart the game after changing the steering wheel and load the controller profile
Additional note: Some games may also have trouble detecting devices that are powered on after the game has already started. This can cause similar issues with device recognition.
To prevent this:
- Turn on your racing wheel before launching the game
