Steering Angle Explained
Steering Angle – What Does It Mean?
The steering wheel can be turned to the left and to the right from its center position. A steering angle of 900° means the wheel can rotate 450° to the left and 450° to the right, resulting in a total steering range of 900°.
Why is the steering angle smaller in one direction than in the other?
If the steering wheel appears centered but the turning distance is shorter on one side (for example, less travel to the left than to the right), the center position is most likely not correctly calibrated.
In this case, a center calibration should be performed to restore correct alignment and ensure equal steering range in both directions.
Please note that this applies only to non-direct-drive wheel bases.
