Quick Release Connection Check
When experiencing issue(s) with the connection, steering wheel functionality, or Force Feedback from the wheel base. We recommend checking some things on the setup like the connector pins on the back of the wheel, and the QR base side of the wheel base to rule out physical connections as part of the issue.
General Symptoms to lookout for:
7 Segment, or OLED display not working, losing connection during usage, missed inputs from wheel, REV LED lights not working, and weak/no FFB from the wheel base may be related to a unstable connection.
Try some of the steps below to see if they help!
Check Connector Pins:
Inspect the pins at the back of the steering wheel and check for any broken or missing ones. You may notice that one of the 13 pins is shorter than the rest. This is by design, and shouldn't be of concern:
If you notice any damage to the pins, please submit a ticket to our Technical Support Team. If the pins are fine, continue with the next steps in the article.
Reseating the QR Base Side:
Try detaching the QR base side from the wheel base and reseating it. Make sure the base side is fully inserted, and tighten the screws for the clamps.
QR2 users:
For QR2, we recommend using a torque wrench to tighten the screw to 8 NM (newton meters).
QR1 users:
For QR1, we recommend using a torque wrench to tighten the screw to the factory-applied 15 NM (newton meters).
In case you don't have a torque wrench, please check the image below illustrating how the clamp should look after being properly tightened:
You can find a video walkthrough on how to do this here.
Tighten the screws on your steering wheel:
Inspect the screws located in, and around the connection pins of the steering wheel, make sure all of the screws are hand-tightened.
You will need two Allen keys: a 3mm, and a 2mm for the center screw.
