QR2 FAQ
This article may answer questions you have about the QR2 connections. Please also review our QR2 Info page to learn more!
How is the Quick Release System 2 (QR2) different from the older QR1 version?
The QR2 system is a complete redesign of the previous QR1, created to improve performance, durability, and ease of use.
While it is based on the same (electrical) connector concept, QR2 features a more squared-off design and a significantly improved mechanical structure. The goal of the redesign was to deliver a more ergonomic wheel change experience while increasing stability, reducing backlash, and minimizing noise for a more solid and consistent connection. QR2 is designed to meet higher performance standards.
It's important to note that QR1 and QR2 are NOT compatible with each other. Upgrading to QR2 may require both wheel-side and base-side components to be updated. QR2 upgrades are available for the Podium DD1, Podium DD2, CSL DD, and GT DD series. The ClubSport DD, ClubSport DD+, and Podium DD (2026) wheel bases already come equipped with a QR2 base-side by default.
Can I replace the QR1 Base-Side on my CSL Elite wheel base with a QR2 Base-Side?
No, it is not possible to install a QR2 Base-Side on CSL Elite wheel bases (CSL Elite Wheel Base, CSL Elite Wheel Base+, and CSL Elite Wheel Base V1.1).
These wheel bases were designed before the QR2 system was introduced.
Can I upgrade my ClubSport Formula Carbon Steering Wheel to QR2?
No, it is not possible to upgrade the ClubSport Formula Carbon to the QR2 system.
This also applies to the following steering wheels:
- ClubSport Formula Black
- ClubSport BMW GT2 M3 Steering Wheel
- ClubSport Porsche 918 RSR Steering Wheel
- ClubSport Steering Wheel F1 eSports
- ClubSport Universal Hub V1
These models are not compatible with QR2 and cannot be upgraded.
What wheel bases is the QR2 Base-Side compatible with?
Compatibility depends on the QR2 Base-Side type, as different wheel bases may require different versions.
The QR2 Base-Side Type-C is compatible with the following wheel bases:
The legacy Podium DDs (DD1 and DD2) can support the QR2 Base-Side Type-M.
- Podium DD1 (Discontinued)
- Podium DD2 (Discontinued)
- Podium DD1 PS4 (Discontinued)
Please note that different QR2 Base-Side types (e.g., Type-C, Type-F, Type-M) are not interchangeable between wheel base models.
