Xbox Compatibility FAQ
All Fanatec wheelbases should be fully compatible as long as an officially Xbox-licensed steering wheels connected. This article may answer other general questions you have about Xbox compatibility.
What wheel bases are compatible with Xbox?
The compatibility chip that enables support with Xbox consoles is built into select officially licensed steering wheels.
As long as one of those wheels is in use, any wheelbase will be able to be used on Xbox consoles--even if the wheelbase is licensed for PlayStation®5 and PlayStation®4.

What Xbox consoles support Fanatec equipment?
Our Xbox-compatible wheels are supported on the following Xbox consoles:
- Xbox Series S | X
- Xbox One
Our products do NOT support:
- Xbox 360
- Xbox (Original)
Do all buttons work on Xbox?
For many years, the Xbox OS has limited the number of additional features (beyond the standard game pad inputs) that hardware manufacturers can provide access to.
Some of our wheels have many additional buttons and switches that you don't find on a typical Xbox Controller; these inputs are either mapped as duplicates of normal gamepad buttons or have no function on Xbox. This also included displays on Steering Wheels, Rev Lights, and other LEDs (the display is still accessible to adjust Tuning Menu settings).
Xbox started to allow more features in early 2025, and in April 2025, we updated our SDK for Xbox to support additional features and enable support for LEDs, displays, and extra inputs.
At this time, F1 25 (after the 2026 update) and Forza Motorsport (2023) are the main titles that support the RevLEDs, Displays, and additional inputs. We are actively working with game developers to bring support for LEDs, displays, and extra inputs to other titles on Xbox.
Hardware must be on the current firmware to maintain compatibility with Xbox.
Are there any BMW-branded wheels that are compatible with Xbox?
As of March 2026, there are no BMW-licensed Fanatec steering wheels available that are compatible with Xbox. We recommend visiting the Fanatec web store, navigating to the Steering Wheel category, and applying the platform filter for Xbox. This will display all Fanatec steering wheels that are compatible with Xbox.
