Self Help - Missing or doubled inputs coming from the shifter paddles
In order to cross out an issue with the product, we recommend performing the following:
1. Swap the upshift and downshift inputs in the game settings, and test the function again.
2. You can also check the individual functions in the Fanatec Control Panel. A blue arrow should be displayed each time an upshift or downshift is detected.
3. Inspect the screws located in and around the connection pins of the steering wheel, and make sure all of the screws are hand-tightened. To do so, you will need two Allen keys: A 3 mm, and a 2 mm for the center screw. On the following picture, you will be able to see the screws in question, along with the maximum torque that should be applied to the screws:

4. Check for any pending Windows updates. These should also be performed if available.
5. Make sure to have your wheel base connected to a Windows PC via a USB connection cable. Do not use a USB hub or a USB extension cable, in order to prevent any issues. We always recommend plugging the device directly to one of the USB ports located on your PC's motherboard!
6. Make sure to have any antivirus program(s) disabled before installing the latest Fanatec Driver Package.
7. Download and install the latest Fanatec Driver Package. You can install the latest Fanatec Driver Package via this link.
8. Open the Firmware Update Manager by clicking on the update tab in the Fanatec Control Panel, and perform all of the available firmware updates.
9. Once you have performed the steps listed above, open the Fanatec Control Panel, and verify the proper functionality of your device(s).
*In addition: Real race cars use a downshift protection system. This is to protect the engine from over-revving and thus preventing damage to the engine and gearbox in game. This behavior is not hardware related, but rather an built-in function to each individual game.
In case the issue persists, we advise opening a support ticket. In order to speed up the support process, it would be helpful if you could also provide us with the following additional information:
- Connect the shifter to the opposite side (down shift to up shift or vice versa) to the Main PCBA of the steering wheel. Return to the Fanatec Control Panel on your PC, and check to see if the input is now correct detected in the different port.
